Public Notice (Des. No. 1592408) The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is planning to develop approximately 28 acres of agricultural land into a forested wetland with an associated vegetated buffer and creating stream enhancements in order to mitigate wetland impacts associated with the construction of the SR 641 Bypass Project. This project is funded in part by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and is required mitigation for wetland and stream impacts issued to INDOT under U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Permit Nos. LRL-2002-433-sam&LRL-2012-61-sam and Indiana Department of Environmental Management Permit Nos. 2006-189-84-MTM-A, 2005-152-84-MTM-A, 2006-85-MTM-C,&2013-167-84-JWR-A. A minimum of 8 acres of forested wetland restoration and 2,000 linear feet of stream enhancement will be created as a result of the project. The project is located in Section 27, Township 11 North, and Range 10 West on the Hutton, Indiana USGS 7.5' series Topographic Quadrangle, in Prairieton Township, Vigo County, Indiana. The proposed action does not impact items listed in or eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. INDOT, on behalf of the FHWA, has issued a finding of "no historic properties affected" for the project, because no historic properties are present within the area of potential effects. All construction activities will be confined to 28 acre project area. Indirect effects associated with the project will be temporary. In accordance with the National Historic Preservation Act, the views of the public are being sought regarding the effect of the proposed project on the historic elements as per 36 CFR 800.2(d), 800.3(e) and 800.6(a)(4).
